James Sutherland-Smith
James Sutherland-Smith has translated a number of Slovak and Serbian poets, including Ján Buzássy, Mária Ferenčuhová, Ján Gavura, Ivana Milankov and Miodrag Pavlović. He has also published eight collections of his own poetry. From 2002 to 2009, he was based in Belgrade on a peacekeeping English project as an English language adviser to the Armed Forces of Serbia and Montenegro. From 2009 until his retirement in 2018, he worked as a lecturer in British Studies at Prešov University, Slovakia.
