Dietmar Dath is former editor of the rock magazine Spex and cultural editor of the influential Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The German original of The Abolition of Species won the Kurd Lasswitz Prize for Science Fiction in 2009 and was staged at the Deutsches Theatre Berlin in the same year.
