László Krasznahorkai was born in Gyula, Hungary, in 1954. After working as an editor, he became a freelance writer in 1984. In addition to the Nobel Prize for Literature 2025, Krasznahorkai has won numerous other prestigious awards, including the 2015 Man Booker International Prize, the 2019 National Book Award for Translated Literature and the 2013 Best Translated Book Award in Fiction for Satantango.
