Collection: Odette Alonso

Odette Alonso was born in Santiago de Cuba and has lived in Mexico since 1992. In addition to writing a novel and two short story collections, she has published twenty poetry collections, receiving numerous prizes in the genre, including the 1999 Nicolás Guillén International Poetry Prize for Insomnios en la noche del Espejo, the 2017 Zacatecas National Poetry Prize for Old Music Island, and the 2019 Clemencia Isaura Poetry Prize for  Últimos días de un país. Odette also served as editor for the 2011 Antología de la poesía cubana del exilio and co-edited the 2020 anthology Versas y Diversas, a collection of contemporary lesbian poetry from Mexico. She is currently coordinator for the Bulevar Arcoíris, a cultural project that promotes gender-dissident art and literature. Her most recent publications include Lo que transcurre (2023)  and De humo y miel: 35 años de poesía (2024).
