Sankarshan Thakur

Sankarshan Thakur (1962–2025) was one of India’s most original and incisive journalistic voices. Over a career spanning four decades, he reported from war zones, political heartlands and margins of all kinds. A long-time editor and columnist at The Telegraph, Thakur was known for his singular prose style—part observation, part alchemy. The author of Subaltern Saheb and The Brothers Bihari, among other acclaimed works, he wrote on the points where memory, politics, and language collide.
